Data Center Health Check
Identify & Remedy Critical Conditions
Management of an ever-changing data center landscape is a challenge for both IT and Facilities staff . Constant evolution of server and device technology, coupled with the corporate requirements for increased availability and redundancy, strains the physical infr astructure. Increased power, cooling, and back-up requirements are forcing customers to acutely focus on aspects of capacity planning and tier levels for their current and future data center needs.
Proper planning requires signifi cant data gathering and assessment. Current capacity and growth capability must be benchmarked in order for Corporate IT Management to
make critical decisions regarding expansion, build-out, or build new.
e-Mediaplus eases the resource burden required to gather, assess, and present the data in a usable format through a suite of value-added consultative services. Our comprehensive offering is aff ordable and professionally presented to help make those tough decisions a little easier.
Data Center Health Check
Assess current data center “health” while establishing capacity benchmarks for capacity planning and growth considerations.
- Is your data center “healthy” enough to bring in new technology?
- Are you under-cooled, over-cooled, or just right?
- Do you have enough available power to handle growth plans?
- What is causing hot spots and how can they be cured?
We address these issues and many others. A data center walkthrough and in depth interviews with key IT and Facilities staff allow e-Mediaplus to provide a Scope of Work that is tailored to each client’s individual needs. The Scope of Work contains a detailed diagnoses of existing data center conditions, as well as capacity planning details, facilities utilization/health, security policies, monitoring, power, and cabling infrastructure. The Scope of Work is presented to and formally signed by the customer ensuring all aspects of the project, including customer responsibilities, pricing, staffi ng, and project time lines, are understood, accepted, and realistic. Computational Fluid Dynamic (CFD) studies and/or detailed Asset Lists can be incorporated into a Data Center Health Check.
What are the conditions in your Data Center?
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Study
Proper analysis of data center air distribution is extremely benefi cial but can be diffi cult and time consuming to perform. e-Mediaplus' CFD study reduces the burden and provides detailed thermal modeling information of the airfl ow and temperature patterns that exist within a customer’s environment. Each CFD is modified and remodeled a number of times to insure that the best possible recommendations are given. A CFD allows you to see the value of recommended solutions prior to implementation. CFDs utilize much of the information obtained with a Data Center Health Check however, it can be done as a stand alone procedure.
Asset Discovery and Planning
In the ever changing data center environment it is critical to know exactly what equipment is being implemented and where. With a detailed Asset List you can track and maintain all of your equipment in an organized and complete manner. The asset list provides detailed information on each device such as power draw, BTU output, serial number, date commissioned, and much more. This service is available in conjunction with a Data Center Health Check and/or CFD, or as a stand alone service.
Design and Build
If you are outgrowing your exiting data center let e-Mediaplus' expert personnel and design/build partners provide you with a data center that will stand the test of time. With a combined 40 years experience in the data center, our experts will design and construct the ideal data center to not only suit you needs but keep you within budget. Our unique and effective process details the benefi ts of retrofitting, new build, or outsourcing as it pertains to each individual customer’s requirements. Don’t play the “Change Order” game when you can have your data center designed right the first time.
